Elaina has been skiing since she was a small child, she is practically a pro, and I have have had no experience at this point. The thought of skiing was almost foreign to me. To add to that, I obtain zero center of gravity which means I’m clumsy and can’t balance to save my life. That’s not exactly the best trait for this sport, but Elaina had thought it would be fun to have her best friend as a skiing buddy, and I always wanted to learn. So I was layered up well, and ready to go(it “only” took me 30 minutes to put on the skis). The plan was to have her dad teach me because he had experience in the past as a ski instructor.
We made it on the ski lift(keep in mind this is my first time) and I asked if this was the way to the bunny slope. Apparently it wasn’t and we were going to the “actual slopes”, but he assured me that we were approaching the easiest slopes(green), when I had thought that the bunny slope was the easiest… so basically he was leading me to my doom. I probably would of preferred a flat land lesson before we got to the legit slopes or even a few test runs on the bunny slope might of helped. Well I fell a ton that day, but I progressively got better.
The important thing is that I didn’t give up. It made me feel better about myself when Elaina took some big spills. Of course I waited to laugh until I heard the words, “I’m okay,” come out of her mouth(most of the time), and let me tell you, I went at my own speed, while two year old children flew past me. And by the end of my first skiing season, I did some blacks. Now, I really enjoy skiing. I’m also extremely grateful for a very, very patient ski instructor(courtesy to Elaina’s dad). Until next season.

Love the skiing post. I still can’t believe he didn’t start you on the bunny slopes!! 😳
