Face Gravity, Face First: A Day at Kennywood

A very chaotic start to our day when the both of us went to get measured for uniforms for our upcoming marching season. For the first time in forever, our director decided to make a change for the ancient uniforms, but made the worst possible option. The new ones are both active and uncomfortable, not to mention everyone is comparing it to a bird. This was supposed to be an in and out, but took close to 30 minutes of 200+ other kids in a small lobby trying to get to all the different tables.

Arrival at Amusement Park -

After this little “pre-adventure”, we hit the road to Kennywood amusement park with a fun day ahead of us. A few jams later in our road trip, and we made it! Shorty after our arrival, we meet up with our other friend, Pear, and grabbed a bite to eat because by the time we got there it was noon.. We traveled past through the park and past kiddyland to picnic tables. For lunch we had a full out feast. Our friend’s family brought pork wraps, salads, fruits, rice, chicken, and some fresh watermelon. Being the secret spies we are, we snuck some Pepsi from the neighboring fountain drink dispenser that we “not supposed” to use. Anyway, a day with Anna definitely did Elaina well because she became NOT vegetarian for a day. In content, she has only been a vegetarian for a few weeks, traitor.

With a full stomach, we decided to hit the biggest roller coaster. Smart, right? While in line we were planning our poses for the picture during the ride, but it didn’t go as planned, but was extremely funny. When the ride ended I distracted the girl working at the booth, so Elaina could sneak a picture from that ride. Too bad it turned out blurry. ;( The three of us made the decision that we would actually purchase the overpriced picture the next time we rode it.

After that fail, we did a few more rides including the one that spins in a circle where we purposely put our smaller friend on the outside to get squashed(lol). Dying of dehydration we went a secret back path(at least I never took it before) to a stand for homemade lemonade. There was ONLY like 3 people in front of us and it took FOREVER, and we are extremely patient. Soo after 30 minutes later, no joke, we had are drinks. Was it worth the wait? IDK. Did it take a long time while they were talking about their lives to one another? Yes. At least they have really good lemonade, and we didn’t pass out the rest of the day.

Next up was the racer, this ride is where two roller coasters race each other to the finish line. Elaina was going to vs us, but it was too late to switch because the seats on the other one were full. In the end we were all losers. Following this ride, Elaina got a henna on her hand. She was lucky because the worker who did hers had extremely steady hands, and it was her first time EVER getting one. It turned out amazing, the only thing is she couldn’t go on roller coasters for 30 minutes, so we decided to get more food to pass time. In my opinion, food is always the best way to pass time.

The three of us felt ready to try the picture on The Phantom roller coaster once more, and actually pay for it this time. With our luck, someone throw up on the roller coaster three rides before it was our turn, and we had to wait for them to clean it up. I wouldn’t want that job! It was an absolutely PERFECT picture. One ride later, we went to a ride where you needed an even number, which we didn’t have. Happily, the group behind us had a little girl that was too scared to ride the ride, so I offered to take her place. Interestingly enough, the group behind us had an older lady, at least 70, who said she broke her hip on this ride the last few years. If I were her, I would not go on it again. Third times a charm? She seemed alright after though, but I’m no doctor.

With time narrowing down, we had to go to the classic bumper cars! For some reason Elaina and Pear were planning on teaming up on me, but I did warn them that I am a beast at bumper cars. While there wasn’t enough cars, so Elaina and I went after Pear. Next up, was a bite to eat, we went to a cute little diner, and had burgers. Once again, Elaina continued her streak of eating meat(so proud of her!). Opps, forgot to mention that earlier in the day we also enjoyed some Rita’s ice that we haven’t had in a very long time. Before we left Pear and Elaina decided to jump a fence into a fountain while the security guards weren’t around. What rebels??? That ends the blog for today, have a fantastic weekend!
